Today in the final round match of JFA Cup, COx'sbazar drew 2-2 against Khulna. Alamgir from Cox'sbazar scored in 52nd & 77th minute of the match while from Khulna Mamun scored in 66th minute of the match & Suronjit scored in 79th minute of the match.

Md Abu Yousuf selected as National Football Team Coach for AFC Challenge Cup & SAFF Championship 2008

Bangladesh Football Federation finally selected Md Abu Yousuf as Bangladesh National Team Coach for the upcoming AFC Challenge Cup 2008 & SAFF Championship 2008. Md Abu Yousuf signed the contract with BFF up to SAFF Championship to be held on 3-14 June 2008.

"Senior or Junior players, who are fully fit and able to play throughout the 90 minutes will be playing for the National Team", Yousuf told reporters at his signing ceremony at the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) House today. BFF president SA Sultan expressed happiness to have involved the local coach with the national team after a long time. BFF also appointed Golam Rabanni Choton as Yousuf's deputy. The national footballers have been out of training since November after the BFF came to an end with Indian coach Syed Nayeemuddin because of the six- month deferment of the SAFF Championship.

To Md Abu Yousuf, we should concentrate on prestige meets like SAFF Championship. BFF president Mr S A Sultan said that they had decided to hold the camp in Cox's Bazar so that the booters could easily cope with conditions during the SAFF Championship in Sri Lanka and the Maldives.

Yousuf was the coach of the national U-19, 20, 23 and women's team. Besides, he coached the national team in two friendly matches against Qatar Olympic team and Qatar national team in 1998, and his side drew both the matches against the superior rivals.

NOKIA became Bangladesh National Football Team sponsor

Multinational Mobile phone manufacturer company NOKIA became the Exclusive Sponsor of Bangladesh National Football Team for the first time in Bangladesh Football History.

It agreed to the offers of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) to support the national team for the two coming international tournaments, the AFC Challenge Cup and the SAFF Championship. "We are happy to have Nokia with us. But we won't give you the financial details for the sake of football," said BFF president SA Sultan at a press conference at the BFF House yesterday.

The future relationship between Nokia and the BFF, however, will depend on how good mileage it gets from its involvement with football in Bangladesh. If things go the right way, Nokia will get involved in development programmes into the grassroots, especially at school level. "The world loves football and the Bangladeshis are no exception. And we at Nokia take pride in having our logo and name being carried by the team while they represent not only the country but the love of game," said Prem Chand, managing director of Nokia Emerging Asia. He also added that "I have seen young boys play football in the villages and also the craze during the World Cup football. Nokia wants to utilise this passion for football."

The national team will get financial support and use the Nokia logo on their gear although they would not be allowed to show the sponsor's name on their jersey during matches.

Yestersday in the press conference BFF President Mr S A Sultan, BFF vice president Mr Abdur Rahim, Mr Sirajul Islam Bachchu, VP-BFF & GS-SAFF, BFF acting general secretary Mr Manzoor Hossain, NOKIA Emerging Asia Ltd managing director Mr Prem Chand, Nokia marketing Manager Mr M Nowfel Anower & BFF communication manager Ahmed Sayed Al Fatah was present.

Bangladesh will take part in the AFC Challenge Cup qualifiers from May 5-10 in Kyrgyzstan where they face Laos, Afghanistan and the hosts.

In the 5th SAFF Football Championship, 2003 winners and 2005 runners-ups Bangladesh are pitted against hosts Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bhutan in the group stages to be played in Colombo. The SAFF Championship 2008 will be hosted jointly by Sri Lanka and Maldives from June 3-14.

At BNS in the first match today, Sunrise won against Wanderers by 3-2. Aminul from Wanderers scored in 30th minute & Titu form the same team scored in 55th minute of the match. From Sunrise Atiq scored in 37th minute of the match, Mahfuzur scored in 62nd minute of the match & Rubel scored in 72nd minute of the match.

In the second match at BNS, Purbachal won against Dipali by 2-1. Mamun from Purbachal scored in 35th & 71st minute of the match. Babu from Purbachal scored the only in 6th minute of the match.

In the other match at Kamlapur Stadium, City Club drew 1-1 against Jatrabari. Bashir from the Jatrabari scored in 43rd minutes & Mehedi Hasan from City Club scored in 56th minute of the match.

SAFF Draw held in Maldives today

Today in Paradise Island Resort of Maldives, the SAFF 2008 draw took place in the presence of the eight SAFF countries representatives. Acting General Secretary Mr Manzoor Hossain, representated Bangladesh in the Draw ceremony along with Mr Sirajul Islam Bachchu (SAFF General Secretary & BFF Vice President). The grouping are as follows:

Group A: India, Maldives, Pakistan, Nepal
Group B: Banghladesh, Sri Lanka, Afgsnistan, Bhutan.

Men Football team as well as Women Football team of Bangladesh clinch the gold in Football

Yesterday in the final match of Women's Football, Bangladesh women team won against West Bengal team by 1-0 where Dalia Akhter the captain scored the only goal in 48th minute of the match. The first match was drew goal less, West Bengal won by 1-0 in the second match & Bangladesh won in the third match by 1-0. In the gold medel decider tie breaker, Bangladesh won by 4-2 and clinch the gold.

Continuing to the women team victory, Bangladesh mens team also won in the last match by 2-1. Atiqur Rahman Mishu scored both the goals for Bangladesh in 55th & 73rd minute of the match while Lal Chhuanawma scored the only goal for West Bengal in 80th minute. Thus Bangladesh won the gold medal in Men Footbnall.

In total Bangladesh got 45 golds where West Bengal (India) got 24 gold medal in nine events.

Today in the first match between Banglasdesh U-19 & West Bengal (India) U-19 football team, Bangladesh won by 2-1. Zahwed Pervez Chowdhury scored the first goal from a free kick in 11st minute of the match. The first half result was Bangladesh 1 - West Bengal (India) 0. Both the team played very competitive match. After the first half, Sk Jewel Raja from West Bengal (India) scored the equaliser in 70th minute of the match. Then Mithun Chowdhury from Bangladesh increased the difference in 87th minute of the match. Thus Bangladesh won by 2-1. In this opening match, Chairman of Prime Bank Mr Azam J Chowdhury was the Chief guest. Along with him Mr M Shahjahan Bhuiyan (MD-Prime Bank, Mr Delwar Hossain (Director-Prime Bank) & Mr Mohammed Ehsan Habib (SVP , Marketing -Prime Bank) was present in the match. 4th JFA Cup U-15 Football Championship 2008 will kick off tomorrow in eight venues of Bangladesh. Today in the press conference, tournament committee chairman Mr Abdur Rahim (VP-BFF), BFF Acting General Secretary Mr Manzoor Hossain, tournamnet committee secretary Mr A K M Nuruzzaman, tournamnet committee joint secretary Mr Ahsan Ahmed Amit & Mr Nazrul Islam was present there. Total 60 teams are participating in the zonal round along with BKSP (a sports institution) which is more than last time. Also Last years champion Dhaka & Final Round host Rajshahi.

51 District Football Association & 3 Divisional Football Association has been formed as per FIFA Guidelines till today

Already 51 District Football Association (DFA) among 64 districts & 3 Divisional Football Association (DivFA) among 6 divisions has been formed till today as per FIFA Guidelines.

Earlier there were no seperate football body in the district & divisional level in Bangladesh to administer football. FIFA has given directives towards BFF to seperate the football body from the prevailing multisport body in tghe local level of Bangladesh.

According to the Directives of FIFA, BFF has to make independent football body (DFA & DivFA) in the district & divisional levels before the BFF Election in April 2008. Among 64 districts already 51 districts football association & among 6 divisions already 3 divisions has been formed successfully.

Today the women's team which wil take part in 2nd Indo-Bangla Bangladsh Games 2008 has played a practice match at Narayanganj against Narayanganj XI today. BFF Women's XI played a 80 (40+40) minutes match where Bulu from the wining team scored in 13th minutes of the match.

In the second half Suinu Pru scored again. Thus BFF Women's XI won against Narayanganj Women's XI by 2-0.

4th JFA Cup U-15 Championship 2008 will kick off from 17 February 2008 in the 8 venues of Bangladesh. Since the year 2000 Japan Football Association (JFA) financed for Bangladeshi Youth & Grassroots development. This will be the foruth edition of the JFA U-15 Football Championship.

The zonal round will be comprised of 60 teams which will be playing in 8 different venues outside the capital. The Final Round will kick off from the first week of March 2008 in Rajshahi. In the earlier editions, all the final round matches held in Capital, but this time it will be in the north-west region of the country, namely Rajshahi Division.

Six AFC Elite referees received FIFA Referee Baz yesterday in BFF house for the year 2008

Yesterday in BFF, six AFC Elite Pool Referees for the year 2008 received their FIFA Referee & FIFA Assistant Referee Baz from BFF Acting General Secretary Mr Manzor Hossain.

The FIFA Referees are Mr Tayed Hasan Shamsuzzaman & Mr Abdul Hannan Miron. There are more four FIFA Assistant Referees received the FIFA Refereeing Baz. They are Mr Abdul Munaf Sarker, Mr Shahidul Islam, Mr Mahbubur Rahman & Mr Amanat Halder. Unfortunately Mr Amanat Ali Halder was being able to receive the Baz.

In the FIFA Refereeing Baz handover program BFF Acting President Mr Monir Ahmed, Vice President Mr Abdur Rahim, Acting General Secretary Mr Manzoor Hossain along with other BFF Officials was present. Most of the referees are on thier way to Jordan to officiate FIFA World Cup 2010 Qualifying Round 3 match between Jordan VS DPR Korea.

Today Sunrise won against Wari by 2-1. Mobarak(Wari) scored in the 24th minute of the match from a minus of Anower. Then in 40th minute of the match, Raju (Sunrise) minused the ball to Liton Barmon (Sunrise) & Liton scored. Thus the first half result was Wari 1 VS Sunrise 1.

4th JFA Cup U -15 Football Championship 2008: Date of team entry extended upto 31st January & tournament kicks off from 10 Fenruary

Yesterday in the meeting of 4th JFA Cup tournment committee it was decided to extend the date of entry from 22 January to 31 January 2008 as till the earlier last date only 40 district teams along with BKSP sent their entry to participate in the tournament. The new date of zonal round kick off is fixed which is 10 February 2008.

JFA Cup is financed by Japan Football Association (JFA) since year 2004. This is the 4th Edition of the tournament which helps to develop Bangladeshi grassroot & youth players to jump to their next steps.

In the first half, both the teams played very speedy match. Both team played up & down in the first half but without any goal.
